Hi all,

A big medal for Andrew Woodhouse eh!! The chap from Abergavenny that caught two burglars and broke the ones both legs and an arm, and filled in the other one. Just been found not guilty of assault. Perhaps there is hope for britain after all...

What say you all??

john

2 legs and an arm seems a bit extreme, or did they 'fall down the stairs'  :innocent
To be honest that was my thought too.

Absolutely believe we should be able to protect our property, but this seems somewhat at the very extreme end of what is reasonable.

Remember the farmer that went to prison because he shot at the burglars as they ran away, killing one, after they had just terrified him.

Had they not done what they had it would not have happened so who's guilty.

The burglar paid with his life, that's his own fault IMO.

Thats because their are too many foo gooders out there and then we have the EU human rights lot

I used to think similar to that too..............

On a phone in show on the radio yesterday, a bloke phoned up "blah blah blah........European human rights, blah" At which point the host butted in and said "Of course, you are wrong on that point, the Human rights act is nothing to do with Europe......"

I have just been googling, and guess what he (The host) is right. (which means you are wrong as, was I )

In short, there has been a "human rights" law for at least 50 years, its just that it was not common knowledge, then the EU did step in and say "You don't have to come to Strasbourg for your hearing, you (The UK) can do it in your own courts, so in 1997 a bill came out and that is when the "human rights claims" took off, Before then as, I said you had to go to a specific court, which is in Strasbourg, and to get there (all paperwork and stuff like that) would cost upwards of £30k, so no one bothered.

So in closing, The UK has had its own "Human rights" law for many many years, nothing to do with the EU, its just that no one wanted to spend £30k to go to an independent country to have their case heard.

I guess its another case of "what you think is true" but it isn't, a bit like the Star trek line "Beam me up Scotty" Captain Kirk Never said that.

AFAIAC as soon as you break the law, ie, break into someones house/steal something,

then you lose all your claims to any rights you may have held prior,,,,,,

Strange how you become disillusioned .

Our friend's grandson (15)  was set upon by three lads as he walked from school last week.   Leapt on his back trying to get his bag with books etc.  He thought they were his mates at first ......... punched one in the face, other two ran off,  the third bit into granson's hand  before running off.   He now has to have tests for HIV and that thing that affects the liver .

I almost expected the police to arrest grandson for GBH or using too much force.
