So this doesn't look like/isn't the same as the SBS stuff?
Not even close...i had the misfortune of dealing with one of these pieces of trash recently installed, MCBs already randomly failing build quality is total ***** but then what can you expect for the range below Sector where a MCB costs around a quid....

Hi Lurch,

When I click on your link, it goes to #358 on my SBS Trade Sales page and shows a double-decker RCBO board.

Which RCBOs and MCBs are you referring to?

Finally someone who sees my point.

Never been impressed with the CGD stuff, I consider it carp too.

However, I suspect that they will sort themselves out in time, as they are now part of the Lewden group, and Lewden will not stand for the poor quality and reliability issues dragging their name down.

Shame really as CGD is as close as you will get to a mainstream UK/EU manufacturer these days.

It bears no resemblance to SBS product, apart from the fact that they both meet the same standards, so in that aspect it looks like SBS, Hager, Wylex, Schneider, Crabtree, Sector, etc etc!

CG MCB's look the same as in that link, the CG MS looks identical to the TD Line one. RCBO front looks identical to the ones in that box so would appear that the SBS and CG stuff are the same?

Hi Lurch,

The lone MCB you refer to is not my "stuff", but a TDline product.

That MCB is a generic DZ47 series one, used by at least 6 Companies in the UK and probably 100s around the world.

The original design is licenced to individual Factories, who own-label it for their clients.

My Standard RCBO ( not shown in this photo) has been marketed in the UK by MK, Chint, SBS, TDline, LiVE and currently by Contactum.

The original design is also a generic one, commissioned by Jovian & Rogy and licenced to individual Factories as above.

However, most of the devices in that DB are SBS 1-module/2-pole RCBOs, which are designed and licenced by the Denrom Company in China.

I am the Distributor of these products, not the Manufacturer, as previously suggested elsewhere. I buy them directly from Denrom.

All these products were probably designed by European Design Houses, on behalf of their Chinese clients.

So, forget what the front looks like and tell me which  CG product is the same or even similar to my CRB series Compact RCBOs.

Since the inference is that CG is carp and mine must also be, you will understand that I will be extremely interested in any further comments you make.

SBS Dave

That was very interesting from SBS Dave about generic MCBs  .  None of us as end users have any idea how well these things are made .    Hence the Crabtree / Wylex / Steeple /  self igniting   MCB fiasco of a couple of years back .

Refering back to the OP with the Control Gear consumer ......   those  MCBs are identical to Merin Gerin .

So, forget what the front looks like and tell me which CG product is the same or even similar to my CRB series Compact RCBOs.
They just struck me as looking similar from the pictures I have seen. I have not done an in-depth comparison.

As you obviously haven't read what I have already wrote I will reiterate, I have used neither and have no opinion on the quality of either. I was not inferring that if CG are crap then the SBS stuff must be as well, I never said the CG stuff was crap.

It just struck me that the kit in the picture looked identical to the SBS stuff. If it is all different then it is all different.

Lurch,

I read every word you wrote.

That is why I said THE inference and not YOUR inference.

I know you didn't say the CG was crap.

Given the title of this Thread, I do not want my product linked to any other, by association.

I am sure you will understand my concern.

SBS Dave

Just to make it clear. I was in no way linking ANY other product to the crap in the op. Some members defended the gear in the op so I wanted to see from a manufacturer's point of view what he thought.

Completely see your point Dave, any inference was accidental, it was more of a query as I have used neither, and none of the kit I have used recently looked the same.
