also got a set of RIDGID USA zones but obviously they are Imperial

Complete with the instructions for offset and shrinkage imsellotaped onto the handle...posssibly some 25/30 years ago

very handy bit of kit and a doddle to,use when you get used to it

 
Flanged coulings with lead washer on outside and  serrated washer under the bush were fitted always on BT jobs . I worked on loads of exchanges from 77 to 87. We also had to wire ALL circuits with the next size larger cable, ie 1.5mm lighting  was 2.5, 2.5 rings were 4.0mm.

Also (and since i have learned has never been to BS) was the L was wired in the phase colour .

 
Oooooh ! I remember doing that Slippery but just for a short period , way back.       Red &Black .....Yell & Black.....Blue & Black  for single phase circuits ...can't remember on whose jobs now though . 

May have been pre- BT jobs  as in the old GPO , we did a lot of work for them .

I think it was once permitted for distribution circuits but not finals.
