Hello everybody,

I hope somebody was in that quite interesting situation. This is a cottage house and almost all wires are running in the walls. Except the socket installation which is running on one wall. It is going from the outlet on the garden wall (outside the house) to all sockets which are located on that wall (inside that house). This is ring. Wires (twin&earth- pvc sheath) are in the pvc conduit. Few days ago I had to replace part of it because it was cracked and caused mcb tripping. I informed my customer that it can happen againg- the condition of this wires is poor so we have decided to replace that outside part of the installation. I think it would be good to use one of this solutions:

1. Armoured cable running outside on the wall terminated inside the house and the rest of ring running in trunking.

2. Use the existing conduit and replace 6242 to Arctic Flex wire- cheaper solution

What would be your choice?

Thank`s for all answers!

Thank you very much for all answers and advices. The customer have decided to run the wires inside the house.

erm... your wholesaler?
I asked where can I buy it because in my area I haven`t found it in any store (TLC, Edmundson, Screwfix).

thank`s guys one more time!

If you haven't made Pyro ends off before, it would be a lot easier to get someone who can to show you how, there is a real knack to it, where do you live? If you are near me in Scotland I am willing to show you how, and if you look trustworthy you can even borrow my Pyro tools. :)

PS Pyro is the best :)

pyro is brill, but unless you can get the tools cheap, it will cost you an arm and a haggis.

conduit, plastic or galv is a lot cheaper for external runs, and a lot easier

I live in east London, so won`t be able to use your help,  But anyway i`m very gratefull for a help you showed me. Have a good day everybody!

edmundsons deffo sell it

I got some there a while back,
Yes, you`re right. In my branch they said that it is possible to find it in some of their branches. But in London nobody uses it :(

Can do an end in anger even with basic tools, but not quick at at it and would be no good on a big job with loads of it.

Work for a firm with about 20 guys on the tools and perhaps there might be 3 who could be put on an install with lots of it, about 50% of the rest of us are happy enough to re-terminate existing cables when needed on jobs. There are a lot of younger guys who were never taught how to do an end, and even quite a few older ones who did an end at college 20 years ago and never touched it since though!
