Im on a large kitchen / house extension project and have just been given the downlights by the client, all 30 of them.

Now these lights are all fire rated and are Class 1. Now with all the other downlights ive fitted that are Class 1 all the cable terminals are enclosed like this-

However the ones ive been given have the cpc terminated external to the other terminals just like this-

I always thought all cable terminations had to be in enclosures? How on earth am i supposed to ensure the supply cable is held securely under the cable clamp whilst bringing out the cpc to the other terminal block?

On the lights i have there is no room to split out after the clamp so its got to come back out and then into the block

Absolute crap design. another reason i hate downlights!

Tell the client to take them back to the shop as it would be quicker to fit decent ones therefore he will be paying for good quality light fittings and not paying you to bodge fix some cheap n nasty ones.

30x50=1500 that's not going to be cheap to run either!

i think its just the connector he wants us to look at
Yeah. I didnt get any photos of the lights. those pics are just ones i found on t`net to illustrate my point.

Going to be fitted with 5w LED

The 2nd pic to me looks like an extra low voltage fitting which has been converted to a GU10 and they have just whacked an extra block on the side for the cpc.
