Ok guys, gals,

I need a decent pair of work boots any suggestions. I have had a couple of different pairs of dewalt boots but have found that they don't last particularly long. It's the constant kneeling down and bent toes syndrome, the soles separate. So ideally need a pair that are flexible enough to bend at toes but don't fall apart. Last pair lasted 13 months.

My dewalt apprentice boots lasted me over 2 years, I couldn't get rid of them as they were so comfy. But everytime i stood in a puddle I'd get wet toes as there was no leather over the toe caps anymore. Also I'd get the odd bit of cable in there too.

I have the apprentice boots now, and these are the ones where the soles have separated. Which is disappointing as they are a very comfortable pair of boots. Was tempted to try the more expensive pair that have similar sole pattern, just not so sure now as same design?

I'd say 13 months is good, mine smell too bad to last that long!

I wear Dickies Thames for outdoor work, and a lighter Dickies pair (the name of which escapes me at the moment) for clean, indoor work.

Had they have only lasted 12 months then Screwfix were prepared to exchange them, so now I know to rip the sole of at 11.5 months!! And get a replacement pair FOC!

Been using Scruffs work boots for the last 10 months no complaints but as usual the leather over the toe caps doesnt seem to last too long.

Most Sparky's boots split across the sole with the kneeling . I have a pair of Black Rock at the moment ,they're waterproof and seem OK but I've not had any last more than 18 months without splitting and leaking TBH .

I always go for plain black leather "traditional looking" boots. CATS were always so comfy from the off but was going through two pairs a year doing work that included a lot of steel shifting. (I'm 6'5 and 18st so that might have been a factor). Dickies were comfy but didn't last. Now have the RS Montana "own brand" jobbies stamped TOMCAT - I reckon my feet will wear out before I wear these in! Just seen they've discontinued them at RS! Probably people were only buying one pair - EVER! I can see the trainer type safety boots being good in domestic situations where you don't want to clumping along laminate floors.

I like timberland pro. Makro have them and often have special offers.

I prefer the timberland pro split rock model. I have the shoe version for when its clean in finnished building work as the boots can get a bit hot and Heavy by the end of the day. Them office workers have it all to warm for me. Outside I switch to the boot version. Do have another pair of timberland pro boots but a model made of soft material which is more comfy but does not have the water proof ability of the split rock model.

Well I plumped for the dewalt bolster boot on offer at Screwfix £39.99

Didn't really want to pay for the £90 pairs as they only get used on sites and at this time of year they'll get well messed up. Will give a review on them in next couple of weeks.

Cheers for all replies.

I used to use the expensive brands we stocked at work but they didn't last that well for driving the truck in, got so fed up with "wot another pair" from the boss this time i got the cheapest pair i could find in his catalogue, best pair of boots i've had in a long time.
