Buy a deterrent.Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR) are used in a number of animal deterrents and trigger the device when an animal passes. You can get sonic deterrents that emit ultrasound (which cats and dogs can hear, but not humans or birds) and detectors that fire a jet of water from a sprinkler.

Cats have crappy livers and are easily poisoned by:

aspirin

paracetamol

ibuprofen

ethylene glycol (antifreeze)

metaldehyde (slug pellets)

onions

;)

Get a spray bottle and fill it with white vinegar or apple cider vinegar and spray around the garden and a few places within it. This is non toxic and cats cannot stand it. You may have to repeat this after a hard rain.
