You should put that tip in our tips and tricks section, Andy. ;)

I would think that is a better deal than the dewalt as that has 3 batteries rather than one and only slightly dearer. I personally would buy makita over dewalt any time.
NiCad batteries are crap.

You should look at getting soethign with at NIMH's, or even better, lithium.

Buy cheap and you will be replacing it more often than you would hope.

Not if you treat them right ie run them totally flat before recharging. I will agree ni-mh is better but when people start up they cannot afford the best when I started I had a skil drill which did not even have hammer action on it it did me for a couple of years. As for buying cheap that is not necessarily true. My fluke 1652 which cost over

Flukes are generally known to be of poor standard.

Megger seem to be the best so far, and are a little cheaper, depending on what you buy.

Can't see how you can say that. I have a fluke clamp meter would think I have had it for ten years or more never been a problem and the megger cm 500 I have cannot do a relible low current loop test. Meters are like cars some people like bmw's and others mercedes it personal choice.

How about this from a forum sponsor?not sure if anyone knows we sell Makita.

Comments would be welcome.

I keep forgetting how usefull you are Mark

This week my 18 volt dewalt gave up the ghost, as did my 24 volt dewalt but that was about a year ago :)

I have been looking at replacing some of my old worn out tools, I do like the festool range but its very pricey, I like dewalt and I have been referred to as the dewalt kid because all my tools are dewalt, but since I have had these failures I have had a look at other makes.

I think I will do a review later on what not to buy given my rash purchase of a well known brand to replace my broken dewalt.

Which is why I like ther review section of this forum, tools used by us, rated by us, for the benifit of us so we may choose a good tool.

Our members seem polarised. There is a poll running neck and neck somewhere. The consensus would be that Fluke or Megger are the best you can buy and anything else is a compromise because you can't afford one.

Oh but it's good. So good. I once used a Festool router and they are in a class of their own. They seem to make everything a big step better than the competition, but you pay for the privilege! mmm Festool :x

You should, someone else could benefit!

I used to buy cheap tools and was false economy. I do prefer DeWalt and SF do often have good offers on. Was a bit of a revelation getting my first 12V DeWalt drill driver.

its only the fluke MFT's i dont like as much. all flukes other gear is good quality. i have a fluke T140 & 77 multimeter, both get much abuse and never fail

there is a poll somewhere. i think it was about an even split between fluke & megger

I agree the batteries may not be as good, however Batty does make a good point about taking care of them and there is 3 in the kit.

We sell more than just this model but the prices tend to start creeping up with Li-ion batteries, all can be viewed on the web site.

On a quality point, we have not had any issues with faulty items, however i don't work on site so can't comment on how friendly they are to use.

Time for myself to invest in a drill, as i have work until Xmas time and it should pay for itself eventually. Im looking at Dewalt, as they seem the best brand for my price range of
