Had a few days work this week ( makes a change) helping a mate who specialises in industrial breakdowns . Isolating at a 60 way x 30a Bill fuseboard we realised (after some confusion) that the bottom bank (or blue phase as I still call it) were in fact neutral fuses . Fuseboard was two phase and neutral , very old so no warning label and no circuit chart of course.!!

Lesson of the week , never assume you know what you are looking at !

Good to know Deke. Had an awright week last week, pullin teeth this week.

I feel as if I am ticking over but far from busy and most of the guys (plasterers, painters, joiners, builders) I know are really struggling. You're not the only one!

Better end soon or I'll be out with the fliers again!

Out of curiostiy Sandra, Did you put one on? Or circuit chart?

Blimey Admin have you joined the Electric Police ? ;) I'm afraid with full production running and a 60 way board you can't start pulling fuses to see what they do. Marked up the 4 cts that we transfered from a dangerous board adjacent. The others will never get done. :| Isolated dodgey board, wrapped it in plastic to contain asbestos and levered it off the wall. It weighed a ton , thick cast iron thing from the 1950,s with all the busbar rails exposed. It was what we call a brown trouser job to work on live !

I'll bear that in mind Admin . Do you have a passport to cross Offa's Dyke ? ;)

You should feel at home working in Brum, we have been drinking your water for the past 100 years. ( Faint taste of crushed dafodil and leek by the way, perhaps you could look into it) otherwise its fine. B-)

So has the whole of Gloucestershire. :D

Back at this place today to replace another Dist.Bd . Same again but with the added attraction of sub-circuits in all colours of the rainbow, two radials, one was red= live, green = neutral the other in the same conduit was green = live , red = neutral, the others were all reds . It all has to be put right , we have started with the boards but I don't think they will pay for the rest TBH.
