...isn't working. No light on, and no blown fuse on the consumer unit. Switch (which is in the hallway outside the bathroom) was working yesterday. Am i correct in assuming that the switch has failed - after 13 years. Should i try to get a qualified electrician to investigate further?

Regards for any replies.

I think that is advisable.  Is the switch flush mounted

& slack with no spring action or is it a pull switch?

Hi Technician, thank you for your reply to my post; it is flush mounted (as per a three pin socket) with no discernable slackness when I flick the switch to the on position i.e. It has spring, but no light to show the power is on.

If you've checked the fuse in the CU I don't see there's much else you can do to fix this without test equipment and some fault finding knowledge. I'd suggest finding a highly recommended local electrician would be the next sensible step.

Is the shower still working ?

It may be just the neon indicator light has packed up.   That is not a great problem to be honest.

If shower works , run it and look for switch getting hot or making hissing & crackling noises & smelling of fish.  Any of these and you need a new switch .

If you are a DIYer we shouldn't  really advise you any further  as in , you need test equipment etc before investigating further.

Guys, thank you for your advice. The shower is not working and my instincts tell me that it must be the switch. I have arranged for a visit by a highly recommended electrician first thing tomorrow.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my post.
