what are the 3 antenna connections on the rear of a draytek router for?

basically i want to connect an external antenna onto it [anyone recommend a decent external antenna? ] but are the 3 connections for the 3 different bands?

its a 2820 IIRC ?

I dont need N I dont think, I just need regular wifi for the phone etc, wifi is rubbish [non existent] in our back yard, about 15' from present router location, Im going to move it,

The 3 antenna connections are for mux-ing I believe.

The outer two are Rc/Tx, the middle one is Rx only IIRC.

The info is on the Draytek site.

They also have external antennae for them there, you can get the part number and shop around.

Just had a similar problem with Wise Wireless controls, system worked faultlessly outside garden lighting, then they had new double glazed window units and sliding doors installed, now the remote's will not work inside the house only outside.

We are hoping to fit a booster in roof space and external aerial in the hope it will work as it did before.

Who would have thought a bit of glass would cause so much trouble.

The reason that I found this out was because I had a Palm note pad with a GPS unit... It couldn't get a GPS signal on the cars dash or on the kitchen window sill.

Also you will find that tiles are similar,,, cable finders rarely work through them

ok, thanks guys,

I think ive found a work around,

ive an old sky netgear thats been flashed,

Im going to put that in the lads room as a router,

and Ive a 5dB antenna that I'll mount outside in a bit of black 1&1/2" waste pipe, blanked at both ends  :D

bit of black 20mm conduit into the side of it and through the wall,
