EICR Question from Domestic Customer

My customer was charged  £383 for a 2 hour site visit, never received either report OR  invoice and is now being taken to court for  non payment. I do not carry out such work, hence seeking words of wisdom from you guys.

If i got offered £383 to drive to central London and do a quick EICR for £383 i would probably turn it down.

Ditto .... its not just London, within the M25 is a PITA due to the traffic, parking, customer types ...

under the dorstep selling legislation, without a contract to do the works or a disclaimer waivingh the 14 days cooling off period from the customer to the contractor then the contractor hasn't a leg to stand on. The only exceptions to this are emergency repairs and callouts. I don't think an EICR falls in to this category.

I do a lot of EICRs. What works best for me is to charge per circuit.

Also part of the rules of being in the NICEIC forbid the with holding of certificates/reports for payment

Even if you did get the EICR, the results would be suspect if they only took 2 hours. How many circuits were tested?.

I agree with you.

He is probibly the same guy the Estate Agents use, who can do an EICR for £100-150  in a couple of hours.
