Bloke next door in my terrace has installed an EV charge point which APPEARS to run from the domestic power circuit (all I see is a flex running out of his window to a 'proper' looking charger) I don't want my house burnt down - or his for that matter. Is this a risk? I doubt he has enough English to not misunderstand me if I question him.

It's more than likely what they call a "Granny charger" which plugs into a 13A socket and many EV owners use,,, without considering that the regulations that cover sockets for supplies for EV charging apply to ALL supplies to EVSE

"has installed an EV charge point"
"installed" suggests a wall-mounted EVSE.
The danger is in what he can't see.
Is it plugged into a 13Amp socket in the house ?
What current is the car pulling ?
There's going to be a lot of these adhoc installations where there's no off-street parking, until provisions are made by councils.

I don't see that it's anything to do with the council to provide off street parking or any other provision to cater for people that want to use an EV ,
What are you suggesting,?
They use MY council tax to subsidise people that have bought an EV that is, in fact, anything but environment friendly,?

Although you don't like it, your Council Tax includes items you may never use, as everything is divvied up.

That's probably going to include streetside EV infrastructure.

With about 40% of electricity generated with gas I'll grant you the current environmental impact is debatable.

What's your solution to Climate Change ?

Climate change hmm ,made me think about tree huggers and hippies all saving the planet and then paying a fortune for gro lamp grown cannabis off stolen leccy supplies.
The deeper youu look the worse it all gets 😄.

As per original post ,
Why not have a chat with your neighbour ,show an interest in what is needed to achieve what he is doing ,you may be surprised,
You may make a friend ,
You may be able to help him !.
Community spirit is a great thing 😊

I don't have a solution to climate change,
The clue us in the name, Climate changes continually throughout time, Ice age mean anything,?
What I do object to, is you presumption that it's down to the council to make provision for people that encourage child labour mining the toxic **** that is required for the batteries in their ****** EV that isn't practical.
Any reasonably priced vans that can do 600+ miles then turn around and do the same back with only a 20 minute stop,? That's practical.

I see my lectures on the current climate change being totally man made have been lost on you 😄

Locked to prevent being resurrected (again)
