My customers come to me telling me what work they want me to do. I am not a pushy salesman trying to sell somthing they have never heard of.Dave do you not bother
but of course a man of your conscience does all the necessary risk assessments just in case it’s necessary to install a SPD :innocentMy customers come to me telling me what work they want me to do. I am not a pushy salesman trying to sell somthing they have never heard of.

well, we seem to have survived for decades without them .... RCBOs are bad enough :^OIs it just me , but now days we have to explain the “importance” of spd’s to our costumers , but I find some just look at us like we’re trying to rip them off ?
With respect plenty (most?) of customers have never heard of RCDs either.
And that, for example on a bathroom refurb, you cannot put the lights on an RCD fused spur as these are no longer recognised in BS7671, which was nice! And none so far know that under the 18th edition RCD's are required for lighting circuits, irrespective of installation method .............
And a bit strange, has to have been an oversight, maybeeeees. And that, for example on a bathroom refurb, you cannot put the lights on an RCD fused spur as these are no longer recognised in BS7671, which was nice!
Nope
NO oversight
done intentionally

little old lady with no money
MCB Board
no RCD

not any more it ain't
At no point did I ever say they were not available
