Extend an Oven Cord

I get that everyone wants to have one straight line from the appliance plugged into the wall however i would love to know why you consider the option of extending a cable to make it longer such a bad idea.

Hotpoint SA2 540 H BL guidance discourages the use of extension leads etc..


Have you actually asked any electricians to quote for adding / moving the socket?

If it is relatively straight forward may not be as expensive as you think?

Dont plan on using an extension lead which is why i am discussing a junction box. I live in London and the socket is behind a built in cupboard, i can move all of that and make it accessible however its London and having last used a sparky to change a circuit breaker it cost £150 and that was pre covid so not holding out much hope for it being cheaper
