Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody could give me any advice.

I own a fluke 1652 and today every rcd was failing the x1 trip test, auto and manually. Put a fresh set if batteries in and still no joy. Then tried somebody else's tester and that was fine.

I'm not seeing any fault codes so I'm a bit stuck. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello DrDeo,

Welcome to the forum.

Why not introduce yourself and tell us a little about you & what you do?

Also could you please answer the following to try to help you?

Do all the other functions work?

What lead set were you using?

Where were you testing the RCD?

What "other" tester did you use?

How did the test methods very between the two testers?

If you do really feel it is faulty, then I would suggest you contact MeggerMark a member on here who may be able to advise you further on your repair options.

have you inadvertently changed the RCD type setting on your tester?

I had a baffling issue once with my tester until I finally noticed I had changed the type accidentally,

ie, B for A or vice versa, or DC instead of AC , I had mine on DC ,  :Blushing

I also have accidentally had the wrong  rcd setting on the 1652. There's quite a few combinations with very small icons.

I did get my 1652 repaired by Fluke FOC for a different reason. They have a 3 year no quibble guarantee  and went by the serial number.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

My settings are right for the rcds being tested.

I tried with socket tester, fused leads, unfused leads and kewtech leads. I've tested at lighting, socket and directly at board. Also tried a kewtech with my leads and it's own, a dilog (readings were nowhere near owt else, but it worked) and a megger. About half a dozen boards. None of them linked off anything else. It worked fine yesterday but then went screwy. Everything else works including x half and x5.

Regards baffled.

All kinds of rcds. English German French Italian. It's an exhibition so every board is different. Other flukes are ok. Just seems to be this one. :-(

Well I think this one has gone as far as it can on the forum. Thank you all for your help. Apart from get a megger. ; -)

Megger Mark I'll get the number from your webby and give you a call tomorrow.

Thanks again all.

Meters are like cars some like BMW's some like Aldis that is why you get the jokes. I prefer Flukes to Megger as  find them more accurate and reliable but its all personal choice. Megger Mark is very helpful with test gear always try him first and if you need to get a new one he will give you a great deal.
