I am looking for a flush mounted consumer unit, i read on here that MK do one compleate with dual RCD's but i cant seem to find it anywhere with the RCD's. Looking for a 12 way, preferably a 5 & 5 split on the RCD's and 2 on the main switch side but if thats not available a 6 & 6 split will be fine.

Do screwfix/ electricfix have them?

customer has specified a flush mounted one if possible, first time i have even looked into getting one so would appresiate a little guidance.

Thanks

Thanks for the point in the rite direction, but am i having a dumb moment here or can i just not find one that has a 100A Main Switch and also dual RCD's 80A 30mA or 100A 30mA or a mixture of both RCD's, 16 ways would be ideal also.

Sorry to sound like a compleate novice here but i have never been asked for a flush consumer unit before and i have never really had any interest in them.

Thanks in advance

Would this be the sort of set up i would require to make up what i need,

MK 16 Module Flush Metal Consumer Unit | Screwfix.com

MK 20 Module Busbar | Screwfix.com (Could i just cut this to what i need)

Mk Sentry 100A DP Incomer Main Switch Isolator | Screwfix.com

MK Sentry 80A 30mA DP Split Load RCD | Screwfix.com

MK Split Load Cable Kit | Screwfix.com

This could be silly so feel free to laugh, haha

I would think you are looking down the right lines with those items, but depending upon who your wholesaler is, it may actually be cheaper just to buy a fully equipped plastic enclosure CU, including RCD's & MCB's and an empty flush enclosure and just swap the bits over. If you look at the costs of the items you list 2xRCD's and a bus-bar will be

Cheers Doc i was thinking about the number of ways after i had another look at what i selected but i will look further into that, cheers

Doc is right there a 16 module mk will only give you 10 ways when you have main switch and two RCD's. 21 way will give 15 ways. Other manfacturers actually spec how many mcb's will fit as generally they are already made up.

"Plus One" as they say.....

Dont you just hate text speak '+1' :Blushing :^O :slap

I may be able to bring home made lemon cake for tea and cakes on Monday!

Hope you've got the new box of Earl Grey Batty???

:innocent

This may be a daft question and im pretty sure the answer is yes but ill ask it anyway, Is there a regulation stating that there has to be a main switch that isolates the whole consumer unit at once, or do you get away with having the two RCD's on a split load and the only way to isolate the whole board is to switch the two RCD's off??

Sorry if that sounds daft, the reg is probably staring me in the face but my mind is blank

each installation must have its own main switch. nothing to stop you having mroe than 1 installation in the same property, but in your case, it could be dangerous

hmm thanks andy, i plan on using a 21 way mk flush consumer unit and i want to put a main switch and two RCD's in it, there will be nothing on the main switch side, it will only isolate the whole consumer unit, the two other RCD's will have the circuits on them, i think the split load kit MK make will not have enough leads to incorporate a main switch also, i think the kit just gives you enough to put 2 RCD's in.

ohh i think i need to read what im writing before i reply lol..... im going to switch off now.... its been a long day

When you stack MK consumer units you have two main switches they used to put a label in the split load kits to say both main swiches need to be isolated to isolate suplies or something similar have noticed they don't supply these any more also the additional information labels are not suppliued with there consumer units also. Probably a bit of cost cutting some how.

so batty what you are saying if i used two RCD's as the main switches and made up a label stating that both must be in the off possition to isolate the consumer unit? would that be satisfactory?

I like the idea of having one main switch isolate the whole consumer unit but i dont think the split load kit that MK produce enable me to incorporate a main switch and two RCD's

The MK cunsumer unit i require only comes with 2 neutral bars, MK Sentry Metal 21 Module Flush Mounting Consumer Unit With 2 Integral Neutral Bars, K6521S MAG.

And by the looks of things the MK split load kit that you can buy ready to put into the consumer unit will only supply enough links for two RCD's..... that was the reason i asked do i require 1 main switch to isolate the whole consumer unit or wil the two RCD main switches be enough as long as i label stating both RCD's must be in the off possition to isolate consumer unit. I didnt really want to be making something up as i go along and it look like a botch job.
