Yesterday I finished off second fixing a rewire of a bungalow that I started 5 or 6 months ago... It took so long because the owner was having a loft conversion (bedroom and ensuite) and converting the garage into a bedroom....and is doing most of the work himself.....SLOWLY :shakehead

So I finish second fixing and start to do my testing... all going well until I get to the R1+R2 of the downstairs lighting circuit...

I find that there is no R1 or R2 continuity to basically one side of the property  .... living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen test out fine.... hallway, garage conversion and day room don't

After a short period of testing and scratching my head I decided that I mustn't have wired a supply to the hallway (& on) and luckily I can get to the living room fitting and hallway one (can just about reach it under the new upstairs floor) and I sling a feed in between them.

I also find, while I'm testing, that I've wired the bathroom lights to a permanent live on the outgoing side of the fan isolator....

FFS what was I thinking when I fist fixed this job.... thankfully they were easy fixes and it's all tested, certified and working...phew

I did the wiring for a slow DIY build over the last 2 years. Yes TWO.

When I came to one of the ring finals, no end to end.  Checked and double checked, no missing sockets. Start testing around the ring and found the leg with no continuity.

Scratch head. Talk to owner. Look at plans.  I'm SURE there was a socket by that door?

Turns out plasterer plastered right over the back box burying the cables within it. When we chiselled it all out and fitted a socket, all was well.

In your case are you sure there's not a link already, just ever so slightly out of reach above the ceiling?

Noz it happens to us all at some point mate...

A few years ago (posted about it here I think) did a first fix of an extension on a 400 year old cottage, the extension had to be in keeping with the older part of the property so the walls were lime plastered (something like that)....anyway long story short we go back to 2nd fix.....found we had forgotten THE BLOODY 2way SWITCH DROP to the hall & entrance DL's :Blushing .

A quick bit of thinking & up with the upstairs floor run in cable & plonk in 2x Danlers flush pirs "yes madam we have installed these free of charge it seemed a shame to put switches on the fine plaster work" :innocent

Oh no,,,, converted during the rewire!!!

In all honesty it was a right pig of a job and I'm glad its finished,,,, carp lying everywhere and hardly any room to work,, and tell the customer that I need something doing before I can do this, that or something else and it doesn't get done :shakehead
