RIght andy i test houses with no garage supplys what so ever all i have to know is whats a main protective bond a supplementary bond and thats it a dont know is my answer an earth equipotential bond ?or can it be worded main equipotential bond 10mm ?




Because if you are you should really have a very good understanding of the regs which it is quite clear that you don't...... either that or you're trolling???

 
If there was extraneous conductive parts that required bonding in the garage, the supply is TNCS, the csa of the suppliers neutral is 35mm² or below, the size of the bonding conductor would have to be a minimum of 10mm². However if the bonding conductor was buried in the ground then the minimum CSA would be 16mm² if not protected against mechanical damage but protected from corrosion by being sheathed. If you wanted to use the steel armouring as a bonding conductor in this situation then the armouring would have to have a CSA of at least 85mm due to the conductivity ratio given in GN3 of 1:8.5. Another possible option in this situation as mentioned in previous posts would be to make the garage installation TT and bond the extraneous conductive parts in the garage to the TT earthing terminal.

No, I mean a Ze,

I did say that it was to help the folks that didn't understand Ra,

You can't measure Ra with a normal Ze loop tester, 

A lot of folks on here may not have a tester capable of doing an Ra test.


A rod cannot have a Ze though, Ze is a property of the incoming supply. What you should have said is that you have a TT supply with a Ze of 0.16, a rod on its own cant have a Ze.

if people don't have the appropriate test equipment then they shouldn't be working on that equipment 

THere is no gas pipe in the garage or water pipes so no need for a 10 mm earth a get you the armour is fine as an earth all thats in there is socket and switched spur for lights got there finnally yes the 4mm is fine for the supply but on the other hand if there is gas meters water stop taps yes its no good having a 4mm earth to the board or an armour then having a ten mm out to meters and stop taps.then a seperate earth would be required with the armour at least 10mm may b 16mm 


Gas and water pipework are not the only items which may require bonding,
