9 O levels mean you're at least as old if not older than me

I was in the last school year to do O levels in 1987

The talk of teachers above remined me of a couple of things that I've never forgotten from one particular teacher at school.

Junior school , I'd be 10 yrs old I guess ,   she once asked the class "What are locks for on the canal system ?"      Now I was one who would not usually stick my hand up for anything ,   like the army, never volunteer for anything.     No one answers ......  so I say  " So the boats can go up & down hills Miss"

"What ! Don't be so ridiculous,  is'nt he stupid everyone ?"      Much laughter from all those who hadn't a clue . 

Another time she announces that a list must be made of all our parent's jobs and starts writing them down .    I didn't know what my Dad did ...I knew he went to work everyday but had never thought beyond that .    So I'm instructed to find out for tomorrow .   

Tomorrow comes , "What does your father do ?"       I have it written down .   " He,s a Millwright Miss"     " OOh  that sounds silly doesn't it everyone (cue laughter)  and what does a Millright do ? "        "Dunno Miss "      " OOoh he doesn't know what his father does ...we all know what OUR fathers do don't we ?"     

Yeah & now I'm not 10 yrs old anymore I know exactly what a Millwright does  and realise that you , you nasty piece of work , hadn't a clue but got off on making a 10 yr old the butt of a joke in front of the class.

  Naw !  Coulda done with some A levels in there  Sidey I'm afraid .    

All I got was  four O levels  (UEI)   Basic C&Gs  +  100 years later  a 2382

And of course  the FOTY   ( I never talk about that )

completely pathetic and useless,

its all worthless unless you have an NVQ to actually qualify you to do anything,

all those worthless bits of paper you have in made up subjects like engineering and electrology stuff,

well, without an NVQ in media arts drama plasticine modelling real time pretend stop start acting then you really arent qualified at all Im afraid,

oh, and btw, do you have your cheque book handy, we may be able to make arrangements,,,,,,,

Didn't the conservatives vote to go into Iraq?

The only politician to say anyhing was Mo. And she predicted pretty much whats happening now with terrorists and wotnot.

There may be something in there that could cause damage to some current main stream politicians or why would they put it off for 12 years? to protect Tomy Bliar?

There are always "Shenanigans"  I'm afraid .......... politicians  threatening all & sundry then give the working classes guns & send them in . 

The Weapons of Mass Destruction looked  like 6" pipes to me , complete with flanges .

Bull Shining politicians start at local level & work their way up . 

I remember just having completed some work on the  (then)  Birmingham General Hospital .   Local council annouced that it was  "Falling down around our ears , crumbling away as we look at it "     We must pull it down ASAP  & build something else.

Strange I think ...  the Victorian  brickwork in the basement & ground floors was about 2 ft thick for a start...,, we'd just had the Diamond Drilling Co. in  cut a hole for our trunking .    Bloody place was as solid as a rock .  

So , about 20  years later its still there , hasn't fallen down ....its now the Birmingham Childrens Hospital  :C
