I think the major problem with easycert in wine is that Ubuntu wants to keep deleteing the .dll that manator is having problems with,

using wine it tends to want to put files in places that ubuntu isnt happy with so deletes them instead as they arent compatible with the EXT system.

I could be totally wrong, thats just how I understand it, but in a VM you can make it a little windows kingdom so to speak.

I had that issue too manator with a printer I used under wine,

just wouldnt work!

I now have an even older PC that I dual boot with XP simply to use the printer/scanner(Im too poor to get a new one),

but to dual boot a computer you use is really not a practical option IMO.
