Dislocated me thumb once bending 25mm Tails (Some hard drawn rubbish stuff)

Learnt to do it right over the years, find it best to pull more up past terminals then put bend in then strip and cut of square then pull back down into terminals.

Don't think i would introduce another joint.

Exactly what I always do.

Does this VAM00 doobrie actually clip into the base of the CU or does it flap about in the breeze?

I am inclined to think that doobrie's flapping in the breeze are not a good idea.

Doc H.

I still think I'll bend in my tails - but occasionally you might find the tails on an old CU plastered into the wall and too short to fit the main switch on the new CU. These devices could save the day - stopping messy Henleys and allowing all cables to enter the new CU neatly. Might get one to keep on the van!

Strip of 60A connectors are cheaper. ;)

I've installed lots of Hager boards, both the old and the new, so I feel qualified to say of the new boards.......

Hager the horrible, lol

The new Hager 17th ed duals RCD boards are by far the best I have used. They are designed by a sparks for sparks. Basically, they have a nice little spirit level built in to make it easier to get the thing level, and have a detatchable top to allow you to mount the board, put the ccts in place and then slide the top back in. No more wrestling with 15 ccts to try and get the board mounted. All for

I've been fitting Hager for the last 17 years on and off and would have to say, they're not what they were. The spirit level is fine as long as the wall is perfectly flat, if not the base twists and the level is all over the shop. Also, if the wall is not perfectly flat then the lid doesn;t fit, this is a longstanding Hager problem, but I don;t remember the old ones being as bad, or were walls flatter 15 years ago?

The newer ones have adjustment in the fixing points overcome this.

Just fitted a new Hager dual RCD , nice board to fit but the built in level is useless , miles out of level , other than that , can't really fault them.

Never mind the quality, we still don't know what aftermatrket is

Wikipedia definition still no wiser

After-market refers to any market where the customers who implement one product or service are likely to purchase a related, follow-on product.

The existence of an after-market is often a persuasive argument for manufacturers to stay in direct contact with end-users. Manufacturers will use postage-paid guarantee cards, for example, to keep track of the address of end-users.

Aftermarket service includes support for warranties, contracts, and parts sales.[1]

For the last 4 years I installed Hager CUs, it seems that I can be a witness to a configuration that not many use (probably because of the price), I use metal clad boxes, DP isolator with all RCBOs. I must admit that with RCBOs in the box you do not have so much space as with 17th edition split load (but I am sure that this is correct to all brands). Yet, I never had to go back to a customer as a result of a malfunction or a fault in one of the Hager units
