You need PL as well... The PL will cover you if you knock the ming vase off the table with your tester leads while the PI as said covers you if you miss the fault that burns the place down after you have walked out the door

Indeed, or for those who don't work for ming vase collectors, if the customer trips over your toolbox or lead whilst doing a long lead R2 test and injures them self.

And it's NAPIT !!!!! Not nappit Leeward!!!!

I'll be blunt with you with no dis-respect meant and after all you've come on for advice and got a lot of it...

I've read all this thread and personally I don't think you are ready to do it.....

Doing the EICR is far harder and requires much more experience than what you seem to come across as having.. And if you finish at 2pm and are planning on starting one at 230pm is not ideal... Not many people will let you and this is nowhere near enough time.. I have 20 years experience and had an excellent apprenticeship and am very thorough in what I do when carrying these out, probably over board, however my point is, they are not 2 hour jobs - never ever, and the ones we follow for whatever reason the following year/interval have been done in 1-2 hours and are a shambles...! "how long did they take" I ask?

2 hours is usually the reply and they only charged me

Thanks every one, think im ****ing in the wind, no point in doing my 2391 now dont need it in thejob im in now, was only doing to be more compentant for doing the pir

Cheers lee

Nothing wrong with doing it leeward, it will help you to go have a go at the practical test as nobody is going to get hurt if you miss something on a test rig as opposed to someone's house...

My advice to you is if your hoping to go it alone then go do it now, maybe even see if your current employer will go halves??? After all he benefits from it too and come to an agreement if you leave within a certain timescale then you reimburse him the half they paid....

Better to do quals now than whilst employed than when your on your own...

Ask on forum if there are any guys local to you that would take you on one for a day?

Good luck mate...

how are you guys getting PI so cheap?is that for domestic only, with a load of exclusions?

even if I go down to 250K I cant get it that cheap. :|
They know your dodgy

or is everyone else just covering the basics for single phase domestic bog standard installs worth a hundred grand?

:C

as I said in my other post, the girl from my insurance co was saying that appears to be the case.

Napit insurance is underwritten by hiscox and they quote you based on your expected turnover. Went with them last year,

Hi all

I would like to call upon the expertise that a forum like this can provide , i'am an electrical engineer and iam current setting up a

up a property maintenance service, i have secured a Plumber,a Gas Engineer and general builders and decorators, all of which have their own business and

certificates and accdediations in their own fields. and are fully insured as indeed i'am . Basically i will obtain the work, and sub contract it out for a finders fee to the appriopiate set of tradesman whome i have an agreement with. Where i need your help is in my Advertisment, Flyers, and Business cards i wish to use the Appriopiate Trade Logos, (Gassafe) and ( NICEIC), but iam a little unsure if i would be breaking any laws?

My Adverts clearly state that the contractors are registered gassafe engineers. and contractors are NICEIC approved.

any information on this matter would be appreciated .

Thanks

I know for a fact that you are only allowed to use the NICEICs logo if you or your company are on their roll of approved contractors. They have taken people to court (and won) for logo misuse.

I would imagine that Gas safe and any other scheme registrations are the same

all electrical and gas work will be done by niceic and gas safe engineers ? im just geting them the work

You can use the words (carefully), but not the logos

---------- Post Auto-Merged at 00:42 ---------- Previous post was made at 00:41 ----------

You cannot imply that your company is registered with any scheme, even if you use registered sub contractors
