Why NICEIC - whats wrong with the other scams?...
What do you mean ?
Why not Napit? Elecsa? ECA? BSI? is probably what he means......

As your advert will be (I presume) going out to property owners....

Not sure why any electricians opinions have much value....

I would think you need to ask the question on a landlords / property management forum???

The NICEIC logo with the associated wording.. "Approved Contractor" or "Domestic installer" should only be used by companies who are registered with the NICEIC on their paperwork, advertising, vehicles etc...

But the I am not sure about the NICEIC logo on its own?

that may be different????

:C

I have been told its ok to use as long as you state under logo registered engineer, (not company) , thanks for the answers and replys, you see the reason i dont do all the work my self i work full time but im finished early afternoon so can fit some of the stuff in , but thats why i pass the rewires on ect

I would be very careful, there is a problem when using any logo and that is when it's use can be misleading. I am afraid it is a very fine line and one that can be used against you by any client.

Thanks as i said i dont want to break any laws , its a tuff one

Rather than have two simlar content threads running, (within a few weeks of each other), by the same person about starting part time businesses, I have merged your two threads. Some of the answers and content probably interrelates to the other and will help our members give more applicable advice. Before staring any business in any trade, all the person(s) planning to run the enterprise should do some research into the legal aspects of the finances and any statutory obligations a particular trade may need to adhere to. On initial reading, it does appear that you may be looking to imply that you or your proposed business has accreditation with bodies that you have neither applied for, paid for or being assessed for. As has been pointed out, (on both threads), there are other trades bodies other than the NICEIC, but all of them have strict guidelines about the use of their logos. I do know Admin had to ask permission to use some of the scheme logos on this forum. The best place for you to get a clear yes or no, would be to contact the help desk of the relevant scheme bodies that you want to use their reputation and logo to sell your business. I suspect the answer may be no?

all electrical and gas work will be done by niceic and gas safe engineers ? im just geting them the work
the simple fact is that unless your company is registered with whatever scheme provider, you cannot use their logo's. saying you use someone who is a member of gas safe (*) does not mean you are entitled to use their logo

(*) or whatever other logo your trying to use

Leeward why don't you simply advertise that all electrical, plumbing works etc are carried out by professional tradespeople registered with their relevant required governing bodies or something to that affect. Then when you go meet a customer for quoting you can reel off to him your guys and their relevant bodies etc...

cheers that sounds like the best idea , example, all central heating and gas work is done by a gas safe engineer, no logos , i could put the city and guilds logo , and the yell, com logo, i dont think that would be a problem,

cheers lee

You can probably use the part p logo ?? Also just put all certificates will be produced prior to contract starting. Get a copy on file from the lads your using and their permission to use them for this reason

As you are an electrical engineer, then you can possibly get permission off your professional institute to use their logo, I would guess the IET.

You can certainly get permission off the Engineering Council to use a logo that represents your level of registration.

You can also use the post nomial designations relating to your qualifications and registration.

Obviously you have to be registered with a professional institute and the Engineering Council to use their logos and have to have their permission.

However, there is nothing wrong with using your educational post nomial qualifications.
