not shared with anyone else. had someone have a look today and hes coming back Saturday and is going to hack it all out and re do it all with rapid set cement

all done now. All he did was hack it all out and fill the void with concrete and then 'bench' the channel in rapid set concrete. all seems to work nicely now 
You should put it to the test.
how long did you need to sit waiting for a log to float by?
