Cable calculations

A

Installation is a shower rated at 8.5Kw, it is to be installed using 70

I would look for the answers in the OSG and refer back to the BRB (as the OSG has reference numbers against it) for specific wording if needed. Once you have done that a few times you (hopefully) will start seeing a pattern with the sections needed for these.

Cable-Mate Version 3.3.0

Supply voltage = 230 Volts

Ib - design current = 37 Amps

Protective device type = BS3036

In - protective device rating = 45 Amps

Length of run of cable = 50 meters

Power factor = 1

Cable Type : General purpose PVC - Singlecore

Installation Method : Single-core or Multi-core cables Fixed on (clipped direct), or spaced < 0.3 x cable diameter from a wooden or masonary wall

i use software for any cable runs .. also give customers a copy with certification etc ..

they love it . :)

Section 701 will provide the requisit Regulation for RCD protection.

You have been asked to suggest a conductor size to BS7671 2008 for a supply to a small domestic annex, the circuits are

1 x cooker total load 5Kw with a socket on the cooker switch

1 x water heater load 3Kw

1 x immersion heater 3Kw

2 x 6A lighting circuit

2 x 32A RFC

The cable will be a PVC/SWA connected to a type

have you read the bit on the website where it says you have to do the calcs yourself to make sure it is correct.? :|
Was thinking of a web based one and maybe calling it cable bud or wire friend or something like that but it may turn into facebook for disfunctional sparks. Oh wait that's here.

Only joking (not about the web site though)
