Hi,

I seem to recall sometime ago that someone was pulled up about stripping the outersheath on meter tails, exposing the insulation and identifying the conductors as they enter the main switch of a CCU, However i have seen many pictures of consumer unit replacements where this seems common practice. So how are meter tails supposed to be identified? I have purchase some heatshrink for this purpose would it be ok to use??

Cor blimey guys do you not sleep!! Thanks for the replies, so if i used heatshrink there would be no reason for this to be picked up on an assesment.

There is no reason for it to be picked up if you strip the outer sheath in an enclosure. I'd not pander to the stupid things they ask for, there's nothing wrong with stripping the outer in the CU so why do anything else?

Where it enters the meter though, a pet hate of mine that is, why do people think we need 5-10mm of outer sheath stripped? Morons.
