I'm Off To Egypt

I got layed off work 6 weeks ago been looking at jobs and to be honest quite a lot out there

i had 4 job offers 3 in UK and 1 in Egypt,

I have gone for the Egypt one 18 month renewable contract,

It's all tax free and i'll beable to bank an easy 18k-22k over the 18 months and still let the missus spend what she wants.

Plus a bonus after the 18 months,

50 days holiday over the term of contract with flights paid for when returning to uk for hols.

Plus missus can come over for her hols if she wants to.

On another forum they are talking about this sort of thing they talk about 3-5 times here salary, is that comparable with what u are getting? They were talking about far crappier places than Egypt and compound living.

Don't you have to be out of the country for a comlete tax year from April to April to make it tax free, returning for holidays during that time might make you libel to paying tax?

Not sure but I think you can spend just under a month in the UK to avoid UK tax ..  Its what some of the high salary pop stars etc do I believe.

A mate who specialises in transfer stations was working for Flag Telecom - loved the whole middle east lifestyle thing. Was in Dubai then off to Libya last I heard!

A relative came back from serving in Iraq and said when they were on rooftops there would be wiring like that Sharm effort to be wary of as well as people shooting at them etc!

Good luck, I am slightly envious. A few words of warning.......

Be careful of being scammed on the currency....they have pilastres. And pounds. They look the same but there are 100 pilastres to the pound AND about 10 of their pounds to one of ours

Do NOT drink Stella local ( green bottles ) it will,make you bad, drink Stella premium, meisener or ( i think) sakara

Drink nothing out of a bottle that you have not opened yourself

Don't trust salad

NEVER be tempted to smell their money, seriously. I know that you now WILL sniff it and then think to yourself. WTF.....he was right!

Other salient advice to follow if I remember .....

Been there over 30 times so this is based on experience and an in depth knowledge of the Egyptian toilet arrangements
