That work you doing the rest of the time?

Glad to hear its going well.
Just waiting for for any power outage from local supply then it's on with a few Gennys for power until local supply is restored.

so your on standby most of the time?

whats it like keeping in contact with home, calls internet ect?

still thinking about doing similar if i can if my plan A doesnt come off.

Yes on standby most of the time we also do a PPM schedule on the substations and gennys.

Keeping in touch quite easy really phone and wifi in room so I can sykpe the missus on my phone because i fidn't bring a laptop with me, and I use the phone in my room if I need to get in touch with her if need be and also the phone calls are dirt cheap.

I will get an egyptian sim card and just use it for message's as thry only cost pennies send.

Sorry for all the questions!

Is it what you thought it would be like?

Did you have alot of experience doing that sort of thing?

I thought it would be a bit more hands on to be honest.

I have previously worked on the type of HV switch gear they have here and various gennys from my time in maintenance and with the MOD.

Well it's all kicking off with the locals now

We had no local labour on the base today as the coaches that bring them in got shot up by some nutters no body injured luckily.

The main town closest a dozen policeman got killed some activists.

Was going to put a message on here to find out if it had effected you. Advice here is Red Sea resorts are still fine to travel to.

The news has given the impresion it's minor skirmishes in the capital.

It's a bit more than minor as for the resorts I wouldn't like to say but we've been advised it's a no go area.

If we need to leave base to carry out a job it's either an armed convoy by road or a trip in the blackhawk to the remote sites.

The wife was saying that a mum on the school run was considering CANCELLING their planned trip. A lad from work is already out there from today - seemingly a resort "somewhere near the border with Israel". Reckons the nutters WON'T want to affect the tourist trade!

I hope you stay safe Bacon and look after yourself, bloomin typical isnt it, you go to Egypt and all hell breaks loose!

just imagining now on the way to a job, putting on the green face paint, preparing your tools in the rucksack ready for the rendezvous with the sabotaged switchgear ( well perhaps a burnt out choc bloc with tape around it lol!) and you get taken in a blackhawk instead of a rusty old transit!

Any recomendations for a

5-kV Insulation Resistance Tester

How we all doing then hope you enjoyed the good weather that you had.

All is well here apart from the daily bombs going off a couple of miles up the road and the gunfire that that starts at about 10.30 at night and lasts till about 3 in the morning then the apaches come and have a go.

Then you can't sleep because of the noise inconsiderate f $$$$ es.
