Sounds too cheap, and the view of what a cert is worth, after all in theory we are not allowed to charge for certs ;)

ill do it for 390 ;)

:^O

joke!! by the way

all installs need testing because you dont know without running some tests wether or not the earthing is within limits ;) and also wether the rest of the wiring has faults on it

Your mate should not be doing this work unless he does 2 things 1) Notify the work and 2) issue a cert, otherwise its YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAA all the way

Come on I know things are tight for us all but lets not lower our standards to COWBOYS just to get some work.

Im still a wannabe as yet but if your post reads correctly they want an actual cu fitted not just the bonding and sockets-Ive seen prices on the net for about 500 just to do a cu.

well..........

what is your mates cost of living?

overheads?

how big is the CU?

how many circuits?

I am 100% certain he could buy all of his materials for

Definately not enough for me... quote for enough time to do the job and you have the time to do it properly.

If you ask the punters if they want the certificate a lot of them will say no, so just quote for the time to do it and hand it to them before you leave. What they decide to do with it after that is their business...

I suppose it depends how desperate you are for the work but if you're dropping your prices to get the work does that mean your standards drop with them??

Hey Elvis, I think we have to accept it. Always the same when hard times hit. I not condoning it, just making an observation.

I totally agree that things are difficult just now.

I'm ticking over but not setting the heather on fire by any means. I have lost a couple of jobs in the last week for being too expensive and that is fair enough and maybe if a lose a couple more I might drop my estimates a wee bit but it won't make any difference to the way that I do the jobs... Let's face it if we're struggling that much then we should have plenty of time to do the jobs we do have!

Anyways, it's Friday night... let's not talk recession!!!!

To me this sounds far too cheap, you have to take into account that all circuits will neeed to be tested and local building authority informed.

I do not mind people who pay cash but they pay the same if it where a cheque or debit credit card. I actually prefer debit card , in the bank three days later and verified free funds at point of sale, unlike a cheque.
