Hi everyone, I have used my trade in the forces in Germany :Salute and have all my UK quals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Think the ecs is a multiple choice 30 question common sense exam that anyone can pass as its h&s and very basic. Don't worry about it. Welcome to the forum mate

They should send you a booklet showing the questions from which they choose 30 I think it is.

Mostly common sense , couple I had to mug up on was the angle of a ladder out from a wall and the colour band/ codes of Fire extinguishers, water, foam , powder etc .

Welcome to the Forum .

1:3

water - red

foam - cream

powder - blue

now obsolete halon - green

CO2 - black

not sure on extinguishers for metal fires, but I'd go for blue if one was around anyway.

It was IMHO better when they were all the colour of the extinguishant, rather then all red with a coloured label etc.

I always went for the black one as I knew it was pretty safe on most things we had fires with, and controllable, i.e. not total discharge, and, yes we used to have loads of small fires!!!

Thanks everyone, after the multi-guess test how to I obtain the ECS photo ID card?

Hello! To obtain ECS card you will need to go on JIB website and download application form. You will then need to supply copies of all your certificates. You may need NVQ3 I know of a few people who have been asked for this. http://www.jib.org.uk/handbook.aspx?cid=283

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

The multi guess test is just your H&S part of the card. This is usually required when doing site work. You JIB gold card comes with a hologram to show you have done the test. Test and card have to be renewed every 3 years.

Hi, thanks Roadesparky very helpful:^O

. When you say I may need NVQ3, do you mean as well as C&G3? I always believed it was the same level of qual.

dont the forces help you with all this sort of stuff anymore?

I know of quite a few guys[not sparks mind] who the forces sorted it all out for them before they got discharged.

Not quite sure. Like I said I know a few who have been asked for this. If you follow this link it will tell you what the JIB require qualification wise to be graded. If you check the web site you can download an application form.http://www.jib.org.uk/handbook.aspx?cid=283
