Light mates,,, invaluable or un-necessary expense

During my office visit my assessor mentioned something about light mates..

So before buying a set I thought I'd ask you guys what you think about them.

Are they worth the money or are they an un necessary expense

I think there have been quite a few threads on these before but I will say they are well worth the money and make testing a lot easier. I tend to use the socket adaptor more than the three pin lead on my fluke when testing sockets also as it saves changing leads between tests.

I think they are a good time saving gadget as

1. Often saves you having to mess around taking fancy light fittings down if they are class 1.

2. Saves trying to hold the test leads with one hand in an awkward position whilst pressing the test button with the other hand.

3. Also veririfes that the lamp holder within the fitting is ok.

4. I like gadgets

Managed to accidentally buy them from the armpit Napit website

My general opinoins...

1/ I am about 180% sure that they had paid for themselves comfortably during the first 12months with saved time..

2/ If I didn't have them with me I wouldn't be a bit pee'd off...

I would be Major Angry spitting feathers and likely to rip a light fitting off the ceiling with me teeth!

3/ I would consider them as useful as a battery drill...

You can manage without them...

But its such a faff and ar5ing about with other bits to achieved a task!

4/ I also agree with all of Robin spark's points!

5/ Go buy them you will not be disappointed...

6/ IF you are dissapointed I will........................

NO thats a stooopid option.. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !

7/ They are an integral part of my meter bag with tests leads, spare batteries, Calcard & light mates!!

i got my set for xmas

nothing worse than looking up and seeing a metal contraption of a light and know that its not earthed,it will fall to bits when dismantled and the anchor points are pants !!!!

I did try to reply to this a bit earlier but the site seemed to be on a go slow?

A Forum deal will be posted on Monday as soon as i get the costs, my good friend at Kewtech invented these and we have sold loads.

We have them also in the ACCKIT which also prove very popular.

The only problem is they don't have any, however they are due in very shortly.

Checking polarity on ES fittings..

Especially the narrow screw 'B14' 'SES' jobbies that are a sod to poke your probes into the check the center is connected to Live not the thread!

just about everything Noz,

batteries have been rubbish for ages now,

trigger temperamental,

and now the gearbox is grinding like a fat lass in a disco.

BTW, its a 6year old ryobi, so it doesnt owe me anything,

and the batteries are still OKish for the torch.
