Meter Tails 100A isolator

Hello all! I know I haven't been around as much as I should but with one thing and another....... Well you get the drift!

Anyway, down to brass tacks, I've got EDF coming round on the 16th April to disconnect my supply so I can add a 100A isolator on the tails and some henley blocks so I can split the supply to my new fuseboard. The idea being that I can re-site the new MK board lower down and gradually swap the circuits from the old board to the new board as I get around to them.

I presume a standard 100A DP isolator housed in a small enclosure is sufficient for the task? I've got the bits kicking around and I don't want to lay out extra cash....

Yes that would be fine, I would not put a rcd on the main meter tails.Prefering to mechanicaly protect them should they need to be. Depends on how far they have to go and by which method they are installed.

Forget about my electrician credentials which are very recent and so won't hold much water with some people. Here in the South West (Western Power Distribution), one phone call is all it took me to have their man round to fit the said isolator. I needed to fit a new cu but had no means of isolation. If my memory serves it cost

Based on a recommendation from Andy a while back I used one of these (EDF will not fit even for a fee)

Ok..... I think some people have missed the point here!

The DNO don't do meter stuff. EDF will not remove my cut-out. My electricity supplier will do that. (E-On)

I am a qualified sparks. (A 1000+ posts should prove that) My question was 'will a 100A DP isolator that is used in a fuseboard be acceptable as a meter tail isolator?'

I, personally, can't see a problem with it. Has anyone else used a standard 100A isolator as a meter tail cutout?

And where the H**k is my bacon sig?

Providing it is in an housing the normal 100amp isolator is fine.

bit like the member status, get to 2K, and your beginner vet. 3K and your distinuished vet?

No problem with a standard DP 100 amp switch from a C/U din rail mount ,just buy a cheapo enlcosure. Its what the DNO use.

I like to use wylex wbe3 enclosures as they are waterproof and keep cables in place.
