So in my house downstairs 3G is total rubbish, currently -104dbm which means dropped calls or phone does not even ring.

On 2G I can get -49dbm but O2 have removed the 2G toggle so I am forced to use 3G, until I can Jailbreak again.

So I thought I would splash out and buy a repeater, put aerial in loft where I get -97dbm, amp and omni in airing cupboard on landing.

Switch on sat down stairs hoping for a good result, sadly total rubbish, will be packing it back up and sending back.

When I emailed them they said if you have not got better than -85dbm it won't be any good, well why don't you put that in your sales pitch then.

Anyone got or tried one of these.

Download o2's own TU GO for free and you will receive all your calls via the internet.

dave2 - Tried Tu Go and did'nt rate it, the call quality was worse than having the dropped calls.

I need to get the next jailbreak so I can edit the carrier settings and get a 2G toggle back.

I made the mistake of updating ios after O2 told me that switching off 4G would now drop to 2G and not 3G, totally incorrect.

Was this an active or passive repeater?

I've heard good reports of the active ones you can buy on ebay with an outside directional aerial to point towards your nearest mobile phone mast.

But their legality is a little dubious.

Dave, active and I'm hearing not legal, I did not have the directional external aerial as that was another £65.00.

However I think unit does not do what they say, as it requires a good signal outside and then should boost it inside.

Yesterday they said it needed -84dbm at least or it will not work, outside I have -97dbm and inside -105dbm which dropped call range.

In theory if its -97dbm outside it should at least be -97dbm inside surely.

So asked for a RMA as not fit for purpose, they also state 30 day guaranteed money back if not happy.

Well now they are not returning calls or emails and guess what a quick google finds the company having various web sites with different names selling same products and with numerous complaints against them and branded as a scam company.

I paid with PayPal and have raised a dispute so will see how that goes.

Anyone thinking of buying one, pm me and I will tell you the names to avoid.
