Just ordered a code reader from ebay.... one last chance. If I find something simple that fixes it I'll keep it otherwise I'll be trading it in on saturday. I have seen a place in Leicestershire that seems to specialise in ex fleet motors. Quite fresh as in 3 years old or so but highish miles by company car drivers. All one owner motors with comprehensive service history. I have me eye on a Mondeo Estate - 2.0 zetec. Very practical and on an 11 plate for 6.5k

Will it make it to Leicestershire?

If you go with that one  Revo, invest in a new cam timing belt when you get it .  Don't push your luck if its not been done .  I hope your car woes will soon be over.

Just posted a question on justanswer as they were advertising that they had a ford mechanic on there. I had to pay £3 deposit and if and when I am satisfied with his answer(s) I have to pay another £19. Perhaps we shoul have an ' ask a sparky' slot for really hard questions on here :)

I went on there last year thinking it was the same as our Forum ....asked the question  ...message came later ...A Ford mechanic knows the answer to your Escort Van problem ...went to the site ...just pay £20 to have your problem solved.     Logged off and sorted it myself .

well car woes are now over. General concensus on the cmax was the ECU. Would cost over £1000 plus it needed cambelt etc doing. So decided to trade it in. Drove it to Leicester and swapped it for a Insignia on an 11 plate. Only trouble was the manager insisted on having athorough look at the cmax and drove it up the road and then said "theres no turbo boost" - he opened the bonnet and there was my zip up set of torq drivers sat on top of the engine. Needless to say the trade in value went through the floor. Anyway, new car good. did 68mpg on way home too.
