Hey all,

My sister is wishing to move a storage heater , moving less than 6 feet and in the same room as it is at present, at present the isolator is next to the unit, then wired in flex to heater.

Would it be ok to just replace the flex and move to new location or does it require moving isolator to next to the unit once moved.

Also do you have to use a heat resistant (special type) flex for the heater ?

Android, as said above , also perhaps use a length of mini trunking for the longer flex.

If heater is an old one beware of asbestos if you are dismantling it . Are you aware of the weight of these things? Two of you could walk it the 6ft to new position, without lifting, then refix securely to wall.

Deke

It is only a small heater, so it shouldnt be to much of a problem Blushing Blushing but before i touch it i will get the model number and check if against posted list , didnt even think about trunking the flex nice idea Evans Applaud Smiley Applaud Smiley. Thanks all

do not walk it, you'll bend the feet unles its a very old creda one as they had very sturdy feet. each brick in the heater weighs about 7.5Kg and there are 4 bricks per heating element, if its a dimplex then an xl24 has 4 elements, xl18 has three, xl12 has two and an xl6 has only one but yes they are very heavy and despite what you may think they retain there heat for a long long time, turn the heater off at least 2 or 3 days before you plan on working on it.

the weights will very between different makes but not a great deal and the weights are as follows:-

xl6 41KG

xl12 76Kg

xl18 109Kg

xl24 144Kg
