You could of put a socket behind the tv, nice use of safe zone :) look's a bit half harted imho.

As you have posted this pic here you must realise people are going to comment.

You have not kept to the safe zones by cutting across the corner at 45 degrees.

The mains voltage cables should be in a seperate containment from the extra low voltage, aerials, scart, hdmi etc.

The power & the scart lead look to short to reach anything ?

Your chases are not vertical or horizontal within the safe zones and as you have a flex installed within the wall less than 50mm is the circuit protected by a 30mA RCD.

Never a good idea to put data/audio too close to 230vAC and also how will you rewire that if it all goes pete tong one day!

I kept it at an angle so it's easier to put more cables in at a later date and they reach the tv perfectly as the bracket is above it. They were already contained in trunking but surface mounted.

I think there is some confusion here. The socket was already installed. I simply chased out the wall to run some scart leads in from the tv to the sky box as the client didn't want them on show.

Yes but the cable is still installed within a wall no longer making it a portable appliance and will need to be RCD protected maybe a minor works too ? debatable

Why would it need to be on a RCD when it's not part of an electrical circuit. And even if someone later decided to drill it the socket it's plugged into is on an RCD. Explain how you would go about it then????

The circuit you have altered must be protected by a 30Ma RCD or protected by earthed metal coduit if its installed within a wall less than 50mm deep , in theory your flex is now fixed permanent wiring and you have not installed within safe zones should technically be inastalled in metal conduit not capping

Firstly why are you making the assumption that's it's less than 50mm deep and secondly it's not capping it's trunking 16mm by 40mm.

Chase along level with the existing socket, then straight up to a socket behind the tv. That would all then be in a safe zone.

THEN you could install a ducting for the AV cables only at any angle you like since they are outwith the scope of BS 7168.
