I have just got email evidence that the company i work for have signed my name on a test cert and submited it to the customer. I sent in a "rough copy" unsigned and now it has been returned by the customer with a poor attempt of my singnature on it. All readings are correct just a few typos and the odd box not ticked, the point is where do i go from here? This is fraud on a legal document is it not? I was going to leave this company soon as i have other interested companys but i cannot be insulted like this. Please can anyone advise me on who to contact or the correct procedure to deel with this. Many thanks for any advice

Are you employed directly by this company or are you a sub contractor?

Are you the companies QS?

How quickly could you jump ship?

Is it really worth causing a great stink about it or would it be better just having a quiet word with your boss giving your concerns.

I am employed direct threw the company (only 5 mnths)i am not the q.s. They are not a member of a governing body as yet( eca, niceic). Just stressed out with them as there are other issues on top.

I think it was becouse they needed it sending but didnt ask for the completed cert. I was just trying out the meggar software, hense the rough draft.

I think the correct steps would be to follow your company grievance procedure, which probably is a meeting with your boss first of all, then if not resolved a letter to your company detailing your grievance before involving any external bodies.

Thanks doc, i have not decided whot to do yet. Its either as you say a grievance procedure or keep schtum. Thanks to everyone for their advice

Whatever your issues with the company are ... no one should be forging your signature on anything, are you registered with a Part P scheme on your own acount ?

If any arial bound brown coloured human waste products collides with any electric rotary extract devices at that firm they will hang you out to dry !!!!

If you decide to "keep schtum" then you will have to accept the consequences should anything go wrong in time or if anyone gets injured.

If you have mentioned this to any other person who can be a witness to say you knew and did nothing then I am not sure how you would stand in a legal situation.

On the other side of the coin you are employed by the company and I believe that as such you are responsible to the company only as long as you are employed by them. Once you leave then I think your responsibility leaves with you and the company carry the can from then on.

I believe your company are fully responsible for your work and have a duty to ensure your work is up to the standard required.

They can take disciplinary action against you should your work not be good enough but at the end of the day it is the company who are liable not you.

Not like a self employed person at all.

I think I am correct with this but I put my blindfold on and stand at the steak with hands bound waiting to be shot. ?:| .

OK - for my thoughts on this (you`re not going to like `em......)

1. What is a "rough draft" of a certificate?? Either you`ve issued a cert, or you haven`t.........

2. If you have written the cert, but aren`t the QS; why would your name be on the cert? Indeed, why would you be issuing it - QS job, iirc.

3. If you HAVE issued a cert, why didn`t you sign it anyway?

Sorry - sounds like a right royal screwball of a system to me - (4. IS there a system?)

i use them all the time.... its simply a 'cert' (usually only test result page only) quickly filled in on-site ready to be written out properly later. maybe this is what he is referring to?

What is the issue here.

Is it the fact the person asking the question did not work as other people would or is it the person is asking a question in order to see if anyone gives him an answer he can act upon.

Does it really matter if the document is on a form or toilet paper as the question is about forgery.

If the person wants to make a draft copy then so be it and it is not for us to criticise how he works.

He is asking about what he can/should do about his employer forging his signature.
