Next door neighbour has had Solar PV installed...you should see it [but you wouldn't want to FFS!]

I have only seen the run from soffit to meter...that was enough.

25mm black Egatube down outside wall...5m drop held with 3 saddles.

Stop end box at bottom of run...fitted 'wrong way round'; that's to keep the weather out!

6mm t&e inside tube , through wall into an air-borne 40 x 25 trunk held to wall by gravity

t&e into new meter, then out of meter into his dist. board. don't know how/where it connects to board.

No sign of isolators anywhere; so if you want to isolate it you have to get ladder out and clamber into loft!

It was cracking the flags here at 5 o'clock tonight and he was getting 600w. They have told him to expect about 1kw between 12 and 2 in mid summer.

Trying to get a 'shufti' in the loft

I know marginally less than nothing about Solar PV but...

...mind you, scaffolding was a top job, done by local company

Oopps SORRY...

Surely it can not have been done by MCS accredited installers. It just sounds like a terrible job. Just had my install completed and I was well pleased with job, I did specify the cable run inside the house, which I think would have been the way they would have done it anyway. One DC isolator fitted in loft beside inverter and two AC isolators fitted one again in the loft and the other inside the meter cupboard beside the 3 way consumer unit and generation meter that they also fitted. I got a 2.25kW system and we got a total of 11kWh out of it yesterday.

good show roys,

can I be so impertinent to ask what kind of price?

BTW, Ive got a 626m2 one to try and price up next week,

yep, thats about it, been told I have that amount of roof so price up a solar panel system for it please. WTF?

I love these jobs with proper info, :)

reasonable enough roys, thanks,
Hi Steptoe

I got Tesco to give a quote first so that I had a bench mark. I then got the independant company to quote always with the thought that providing they are within a couple of hundred pounds of each other (either way) I would go with the independant. They were

Will do roys, its commercial so depending if i can get pix or not , or even if we get the job. Will do some stuff of the 50kw one too once it gets rolling.

So what's the ROI on this cost for you, I was hearing that it's down to about 8 years now
Yip looks like it is going to be about 8 years maybe slightly over, especially as it is winding my meter backwards just now, I have declared that on my FIT application so I think I can expect my old black meter to be changed out fairly soon. But as the saying goes 'make hay while the sun shines' :)

Update on my neighbours quality job...they came back yesterday to make 'some adjustments' [his words not mine]

Turned box right way, fitted lid prior to a visit from the Silicone Fairy

Boss was wandering around with the airborn 40 x 20mm trunk in his hand muttering about the 'glue not being to spec and he would take it up with the suppliers'.....obviously the Reg about mechanically fixing trunking containing mains cables does not apply

Not been back inside yet, nor into loft...but I will; oh yes!... :coat
