Hi all,

Have been in the construction industry for 20 odd years and am branching out to join the ranks of Domestic Installers. Frowned upon by a lot of time served guys I know, but I'm under no illusions and know it won't be easy. Have been interested in electrics since way back but didn't get the entry qualifications needed at the time to secure an apprentiship. (Thatcher was in power, jobs were scarce and the big firms could skim the cream). I plan to do 2391 next year after gaining some 3 phase experience but wont rush in if I don't think I'm ready. Looking forward to it though as this is an area that really interests me.

Have got my 17th edition and been doing some notifiable work of late, Elecsa assessment is booked for next Wednesday. I have all the paperwork ready but no idea what he's going to ask me. I don't think I've been so nervous since my driving test 25 years ago!

Cheers

Bez

my last elecsa assessment the other week, i passed easily... didnt do any testing, and didnt really ask many questions.....

although normally you would be asked questions on regs (to make sure you know them), be asked to test stuff, and your readings will be compared to your test sheets for that job. expect spending a bit time at office/home going through paperwork (PLI, complaint register, elf n safety stuff etc), go to job, be asked questions etc, check switched lives are sleeved brown where necessary etc

Many thanks for the welcome guys, some useful pointers there.

Hello and Welcome.

It's good to have you On-Board.
