Newbuild 16mm T/E

Had a look at a newbuiuld in Hampshire area at the weekend, same place that had the sockets fitted at the wrong level to the worktop in the kitchen:slap

Anyway (& I'm not saying it's wrong but) why on a newbuild would you put 16mm T/E for the meter tails......... :shakehead

It is TT same as the 30+ year other properties in the road, so I recon when I next visit for a look round when the site is empty, there will be an RCD in the meter cab:tongue in cheek

No sign of a rod yet either.........thats 6mm I'm assuming is going to the Gas & not a rod.

Why not plonk in 25mm swa or use another compliant method to get 25mm L/N & 10/16mm earth conductors in at first fix:C

The garage is the width of two paving slabs away from the side of the property just to the left of the meter cab & has no provision for electric in the garage............poor planning in my view......must drop my card through the door when the new owners move inROTFWL....9x properties needing power to garages ......niceB-)

I am interested to see how the T & E gets terminated AND keeps the insulation and sheath intact until inside the meter! That is if the meter minky even connects it before laughing all the way to his next job:coat

Well if this is a small dwelling and the fuseboard location is not near the meter box 16mm

Exactly what I thought maybe it is above the recommended distance for tails, so they put in t/e and an isolator?

As I said in the post " I'm not saying it's wrong"...............just not the way I would have done it.

Give it a few weeks & I will be back there (nextdoor), so might get a look inside if the sales girl is there to open up.

Couldnt get in the place to see where the cu is in relation to the meter, but the TT seems to have been binned.

What's with the coiled up "spring" earth wire?

As that's SSE territory, you will see the meter has an output isolator built in. Handy for anyone in a non SSE area to see how just how easy we have it most of the time with most installations having meters like that allowing us to safely isolate.

ex dockyard sparkies like making springs in earth conductors, but nothing that large - personally I would be livid for wasting my earth cable, like all peole who pay the bills :^O
