Hi, I'd hoped to be able to replace a faulty 2 gang light switch but I've realised the layout from older switched has changed and I'm confused as to how to map the old wiring to the new layout.

The old switch is a 2 Gang Switch from BS EN 60669 10AX 250V~ which has 2 separate units side by side and this has 7 terminal points and an earth.

The new one is BS EN 60669-1 20-16X 250~ but this has the 2 units now merged into 1 with only 6 terminals point and an earth.

Could anyone help me map the L1, L2 and Com terminals from the old switch to the L11, L12, L21, L22, Com1, Com2 terminals in the new one?

Your old switch is 2 switches side by side.
One switch has 3 terminals and is called a 2 way switch.
The other switch has 4 terminals and is called an intermediate switch

Your new switch is 2 switches in the same package and both are 2 way switches.
You have the wrong new switch.

You need a "grid switch"
(A grid switch, you can make a variety of combinations, including what you already have)

Thanks Richard ... that has helped enormously...

The Scolmore Click or Click Deco range let's you build a switch to the specification you need using separate modules
Alternatively you could buy a click 2 gang switch and a 1gang intermediate and swap the switch modules over

Yes if you know what you are doing and itermediate can be regarded as a universal light switch.
Not according to my Facebook adversary, but he seems to be backtracking now. I have another where a new board has been fitted. I questioned paperwork EIc and Part P if England…I was told I didn’t know what Part P was 😉😂
