yep agree with steptoe, I have been using this for bathroom timer fans as well for a while now.

slightly off the op, which colours do you use for c l1 and l2 on 2 way switching?

brown = perm ©

then black & grey as 1&2

It isn;t a mistake, you can use whatever colour you want as long as it is identified correctly.

Never heard of anyone using specific colours for L1 and L2 either, there's absolutely no point and it makes no difference.

I use brown as L1 and black as L2, and with 3phase grey as L3.

As Lurch says, there's no necessity to use any colour other than brown for live in single phase, I just like to use the colours that relate to the alphanumeric designations.
