Just drawn it for the third time.

Does this sound right

live from db to live time clock , perm live to common on key-switch

time clock switch live to photocell and light switch live

keyswitch out going to photocell perm live ( live in)

I don't think you can do what you want with the equipment you have described. if the photocell can switch on before the timer switches on (ie photocell fed from perm live), it will also be switched on after the timer has switched off.

Do i need to come off switch live of timeclock to photocell perm live  then photocell live out to light. No because the photocell could not switch on without the timer being on

As I said, I don't think it can be done the way you want. the photocell needs to be on a perm supply if you want it to come on before the timer, it will stay on after the timer switches off. Think of them as 3 switches.

you would set time clock 4pm to 9pm and if it isn't dark at say 5pm, the photocell keeps light off, so that would be timeclock - photocell - light.

don't get your knickers in a twist about the overide switch either, it's just a switch, no different to any other 1g 1way light switch.
Ah, I see what you did there, that makes sense.

Do i need to come off switch live of timeclock to photocell perm live  then photocell live out to light. yes

Keyswitch live out to photocell perm live too light, so a wire connecting photocell and keyswitch live outs, which then goes to light

Im totally confused

If doing it binky's way, ie setting the timer earlier and letting the photocell switch on the lights.

You can get photocells with a built in timer for that. They turn on at dusk and stay on for a certain time then turn off.

Yes, and i have never worked out why anyone would fit one, say you fit it in the summer for 3 hours so it goes off around midnight, come winter  it would turn on at 15.30pm it would turn off around 18.30 ! They have a max 8 hours on time so if you set it for that, then in the winter 23.30 off  but 5am in the summer. Unless you like climbing  ladders and adjusting the high quality plastic Chinese screw recessed in the side because even though you explained this to the customer, they still complain. Am i missing something with these ?

The way i always wire these is, timeclock first that feeds the photocell. I set the on time for around 14.00hrs (so it does not need adjusting summer/winter) which means the light will flash on for a couple of seconds as the photocell powers up. The clock is then set to turn off say 1.0 am.

You have still not told us what the override switch is for, a on or off ?  Lets assume its to make the lights stay permanently on, the switch has to connect to a always live source and the light so bypassing any other controls. Now draw that out.

The override switch is so that the lights come on if needed when the  timeclock is turned off . Eg timeclock is off at 8pm and then one night out of the blue they want the lights on until 10 pm so they switch the override switch on .

So perm live to live of timeclock and perm live to keyswitch

out going timeclock to light

out going keyswitch to photocell

out going photocell to light??

So perm live to input of timeclock and perm live to input of keyswitch

out going timeclock to light photocell input

out going keyswitch to photocell output

out going photocell to light??
and set clock to switch on from 2pm to 8pm, as slips says.

Out going timeclock to photocell

out going photocell to light

out going keyswitch to light

?

time set will energise photocell

and if its dark that will energise light

keyswitch will energise lights if switched on.

Think ive got there. ( hopefully)
