i have just brought a qvis medusa dvr with 2 600 tvl dome cameras to watch over my new toy

as i never fitted cctv what the best hight  for camera for best results

amd whats this port foward all about

cheers moose man

hi moose man what make router have you got?

port forward is opening up the gates to allow the camera traffic to flow one way or the other ie like leaving the front door open or closed

height depends on camera and access the camera will have an optimum mounting height and thats usually if its static type anything above 12 foot or more out of reach a ptz should go as high as possible tbh but again a height out of reach.

hi badger

i have a bt hub 5 fiber optic camera type is 3.6 mm fixed lens with cmos image sensor model eye- cm- fb

so port forward would allow to excess dvr as its got a dedicated ip address
