Just a quick question, in a house or flat with 3036 fuses which is an acceptable way of adding a spur.

Could a spur be taken from an existing socket and fed sideways into a rcd fused switch or would a new break have to be made in the ring and make the fsu part of the ring final?

Just wondering if the small length of cable from socket to fsu no been rcd protected would make this not compliant even with the socket and fsu being placed immediately next to each other as only new cable after the fsu would be rcd protected

Some argue the whole circuit needs rcd protection as its been modified but others would put the rcd spur next to the socket (with no cable drillable) and that would be ok :) it's how you interpret the regs

im under the impression that only any new work would need rcd protection, in a house with 60898 breakers its normally straight forward to fit rcbo so would prefer to do whole circuit. Was thinking about houses with 3036 fuses

which opens another can of worms lol, will a plug in wylex fit on 3036 boards by other manufacturers or did they only fit on wylexs own bords?

When you do this both the fuse holder and carrier are renewed.

If you give the supplier the name of the original board, they will

be able to match up.

Well on a slight tangent, and in view of the incompatibility argument....the NICEIC publication on EICR coding shows a Wylex 3036 board with some Wylex 3036s fitted and some GE plug in MCBs and THEY say it is not an issue!

Hmmmmmmmmm, interesting

So Nicey say it IS okay to fit the "wrong" make of MCB?

To add any additional spurs - I've used a 13AMP Fuse spur with an RCD build in.  That will do the trick for any additional sockets.
