Hi there,

I have 1 socket spur coming from the fuse box to handle the sockets in the garage. I would like to put in 3 fused spurs, one for garage door motor, one for a large dough mixer and one for a tumble dryer. I would also like to have another 4 double sockets around the garage, all preferably fused double sockets. Is this possible or would i need one ring for sockets and another from the fuse box for the fused spurs ?

Any help or rough diagrams would be very much appreciated. I am a very careful chap but would like some reassurance before I go ahead.

Thank you,

Ady

Hi, at the moment the spur is from a 32amp MCB. The power rating on all the items in the garage is 240v domestic. There is a fridge , freezer, tumble dryer and a univex dough mixer and a garage door opener.

Does this help ?

an unfused spur can only supply one point. if its fused then you can fit as many points as you want, just remember you are limited to the 13a at the first one though. your door motor will not be used very often so unlikely to cause any issues, however your dryer will use most of your capacity when its running, and thats before anything else is connected

I'm sorry Ady,, but this is the kind of thing that most of us on here go to every week to put right as the "competent" home owner has made a right hash of it..

I'd say that you'd be far better off getting someone in to make sure that it's completed in a manner that is safe for you and your family

i know, itll just take longer to do the same thing, and since its taking longer more will be energy will be wasted so itll use more to achieve the same task
