Hi guys while in a property today i noticed that the electrics had been rigged so they could get free electricity.

so my question is should i report this or leave it alone as its not skin of my nose?

depends on if they are long term customers, or if you think the job will be a 1 off!

Tell them you know what there up to and give them the oppertunity to get it sorted, themselvs (as they done it in the 1st place)... tell them you will be back at some point to check it has been rectified, if not report them, and if they never answer the door when you go to check just report it...... explain that to them and im sure they will sort it out.... all be it they may put it back the way thay had it once you have left but at least you know you left the property and it was sorted....

depends on the situation, if its a boarded up property being worked on for a couple days i would turn a blind eye but if its regular joes on the rob then balls to them, no warning jus report the scum.

Report. But do not get involved directly (disregard post 3).

Think of this: what if they get caught out in the future and say "well, we had an electrician round recently, he did it".

^^ as above. dont get involved. infact, it may be worth delaying reporting them so less chance they know who it was

As I understand it you have a statutory legal duty to report or be prosecuted for several criminal offences including "aiding & abetting"?

very much doubt they would get anywhere in court if you had nothing to do with it

thanks guys it was a housing association house where we were only let in because the bailliffs were going to be there the next day cos they had not let anyone in to do gas checks or replace smoke and Co alarms etc etc.

the woman said "do u need electric off?" and after i said yes but only lights she went into the cupboard and said thats it off, when she came back down stairs after i said i was done her face was a picture when i said i had to turn off another breaker

wish i had a camera lmao

Thats a fair point, but whats to stop them saying the electrician done it for me when he was in not so long ago....... thats if the customer knows the electrician is the only person that has seen what he seen..... or even saying it was like that when we moved in......

Report it as missing/tampered seals on a meter and leave it at that.

Here you go mate...

Well Kamaccui , noting that you are in Glasgow , could you not end up in the Firth of Clyde with some concrete wellies on .
I was thinking that ! After all, these are desperate times and this results in desperate people .. Got to be very careful

Like where would they nick the concrete from?

ROTFWL

Seriously though, shouldn't the supply company be onto this sort of thing?

"Oooh, number 83, Unspecific Avenue used 27p of electric again last quarter, and they have 12 kids, a tumble dryer and 4 electric fires. They must be using those low energy light bulbs we sent them."
