As the guys have said there is a micro switch within the valve head,,, however you cannot manually move the mechanism far enough to operate the switch, it only allows you to open the valve
That is correct. What you can often do to test if this is the case is. ' throw' the lever as hard as you can so it travels further than normal travel. If this works you will hear the micro switch operate for a second or two.

Every one I have ever used operated the microswitch on manual override.

Not that its directly relevant to the OP's question (as he has Honeywell),

But..

Siemens 2 port valves do operate the switch while they are in the locked manual open position.
