Just read that a new product mark is to be introduced following Brexit, apparently UKCA in some stylised form.

Why can't the good old British Standards "Kite mark" be used?

It was doing the job long before CE was dreamed of, and at the end of the day many of the European EN standards are derived from their BS predecessors.

This is just more EU spite.

They say they own the copyright to the CE mark so we can't use it once we leave.

But hold on, if we make stuff to sell into the EU it still has to have the CE mark, just as stuff made outside the EU for sale there has to.

So most manufacturers will still put a CE mark on their stuff to sell it to the EU, so are the EU trading standards going to trawl our shops to fine anyone that happens to be selling something with a CE mark in the UK?  I don't think so.

Another load of silly nonsense from the EU trying to punish us for leaving.

When the Chinese sell stuff to us they use the CE mark ................... but I often wonder if they mean Chinese Excrement .............

There is no official "Chinese Export" mark that is similar to the CE mark.

The EU Commission have been in discussions with the Chinese Government, and the official line from both is that there is no "Chinese Export" mark.

If you look at the CE mark above, this is the correct way to apply this.

Two overlapping circles, with the spoke of the E shorter than the top & bottom.

It is likely that the "Chinese" CE mark is simply an incorrect attempt at applying a CE mark.

So, if this is wrong, then one has to ask, what else is wrong with the product?..

The kite mark is operated by the BSI Group, a company that has diversified and has bought assets etc.

The UK Conformity Association will be directly under the control of the British government.
